Cross-Cultural Servanthood: Serving the World in Christlike Humility

Author: Duane Elmer

I purchased this book from Amazon, HERE

Elmer helps readers to understand the importance of learning how to serve those who live within a different culture than you. Elmer states, “[f]or those of us who live in or intend to enter another culture, I suggest we postpone naming ourselves ‘servants’ until the local people begin to use words about us that suggest they see servant attitudes and behaviors in us” (37). If we are not being servants according to the other culture’s definition (not our definition), then we are not servants. Servanthood must begin with humility and a willingness to learn.

Moody Handbook of Theology: Revised and Expanded

Author: Paul Enns

I purchased from Amazon, HERE

This book helps readers to understand the theologies of the church. Each chapter focuses on the different points of beliefs and the history of theologians and others who brought them to be. Understanding the doctrines of the church is essential to those wishing to grow in their Christian walk. This book makes it possible for anyone to come to a clearer understanding of doctrine and theology.

The Social Media Gospel: Sharing the Good News in New Ways 2nd ed.

Author: Meredith Gould

I purchased from Amazon, HERE

Gould teaches those in ministry how to determine the best online resources for one’s specific ministry. The first of the three major sections of the book focuses on building a framework for understanding, the second helps readers in choosing social media, and the third teaches how to integrate them into ministry. Overall, this book will help its readers to know the best method(s) for applying social media to ministry. The forward Rev. David L. Hansen shares one key insight that I believe sums up the need for this book. Hansen states, “you can’t afford to continue to ignore social media. In one form or another, social media is here to stay. Social media is part of your congregants’ lives, part of your community and neighborhood, and–whether you realize it yet or not–part of your ministry” (ix) As believers make use of this resource, I believe they will more become more effective in their social media use.
